Hot Water Bottle Sees The Light

The short film Hot Water Bottle which I wrote and directed has been announced as part of the Irish Short Film Selection at this years Corona Cork Film Festival. Which is really nice.

It will mark the debut screening of the film when it plays in competition at the festival this November. All of us at Mycrofilms and the cast and crew of the film are over the moon. The film is a short comedy about a former couple who keep sleeping with each other. A series of variously awkward walks of shame then take place over four seasons in Kilkenny. It took us a long time to shoot this film (10 months) but I’m proud that the work of the team is finally going to be showcased. There’s four brilliant performances from David Thompson, Suzanne O’Brien, Simone Kelly and Peter McGann, it was beautifully shot by Sarah Dunphy and we’ve got such an amazing score from David Sheenan. The film was produced by our longtime midwives Alan Slattery and Paddy Dunne.

We’re really looking forward to finally be bringing the film to audiences and Cork is the absolute perfect place to premiere it. Baby Love, our other short film of 2012, will also be screening at the San Francisco Irish Film Festival later this month so it’s a good month for our wares hitting the festival circuit!

Here’s the Hot Water Bottle trailer anyhow if you want to get a preview.
