Employment Opportunities

We’ve just released the trailer for the very final Vultures episode. ‘The Dicks Who Came In From The Cold’ hits the web this Sunday December 23rd and it will tie up our second series with a bit of festive panache.

The trailer features a head to head between the punky informant Jack Street (Ross Costigan) and dapper architect Tom Moriarty (Stephen Colfer). It allowed us a nice opportunity to give two of the best Vultures supporting characters a scene all on their lonesome as we see that the former detectives aren’t the only ones struggling with unemployment.

It also ups the stakes for our detective baiting Christmas reunion in the final episode. The plot for the new episode sees Janine Drew upping the stakes as she tries to reunite the good dicks who can take the fight local crimeboss Johnny Curragh. And it’s also set at Christmas just like the very first episode all those many, many years ago. It’s nice to finish things off in a sorta full circle kind of fashion. Here’s the trailer:

They’re Coming To Get You Barbara!

We’ve just launched the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Devious Theatre production of Night Of The Living Dead.

It sets out the stall for our version of the story which is coming from an Irish perspective in 2012. A really bad crisis happens and it gets worse and worse and people have to flee the country and it doesn’t look too rosy for the ones who are left behind. Sound familiar, right? We’re doing dear ol’ Uncle George proud and going straight for the socio political themes that made his original movie so vital. It’s probably safe to say that the characters will swear loads and drink tea too.

The trailer also provides a look at Connie Walsh playing the part of beleaguered teen heroine Barbara. The most iconic line from the original movie gets an airing here with Stephen Colfer uttering ‘They’re coming to get you Barbara!’ He’ll be playing the part of Barbara’s brother Johnny in this production.

We’ve also launched Night Of The Living Dead.ie just for the show and all its general production chronicing so check that one out if you’re inclined to keep up with our zombie struggles.

Shifting On…

We launched the trailer for Shifting this past weekend and here it is.

A lovely little montage of kisses and thought processes of the characters, it was directed by Paddy Dunne and written by the writer of the play itself, John Kennedy. It’s soundtracked by a version of Morrissey’s ‘I Know Very Well How I Got My Name’ as covered by our own Jessica Walsh.

I’ve been going overtime on the play the past few weeks as we approach the opening night. I’ve found myself directing a little less, writing notes a little more and generally trying to slot the final pieces into place without dropping anything, like a game of Buckaroo. To give a precautionary evaluation of how it’s going to be, I’d say it’s going to be great. Done. Tickets are starting to fly out and flu is spreading all around No. 76. It could be something to do with all the kissing in this video but I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt.

Shifting opens on April 18th and runs until April 23rd. All details can be found over at devioustheatre.com
